Flying Field

The club field is located on the southern end of the Lake County Landfill and supports a 500ft x 45ft Geo-fabric runway that runs east-west with pilots facing north when flying. A permanent shelter was added this year. The current flying site has been graciously provided by the Parks & Recreation Department of Lake County and the Lake County Landfill.

Our newest additions are a Weather Station and WiFi access!
To view the current weather please down load the Ambient Weather Network (AWN) app which is available for both IOS and Android via the app store or play store. The weather station is also available on either PC or MAC via ambientweather.net.
Search for 13251 Frankies Road Tavares Florida in the search bar and click on the red dot. Then click "view dashboard".
It is not necessary to create an account but it appears that by doing so and then logging in the app lets you save your favorites. To create an account simply use your current email and create a password for the Ambient network.
Wifi credentials/instructions are located in the 'Members Only' area under 'Gate Combo and WiFi'.

The field is equipped with "Off Grid Power". Providing DC power for charging station, and AC power for installed ceiling fans, and other electronics use! Please review the Operating Practice below. Please do not use AC power for battery charging!

From the north (US-441)- Take US-441 to FL-19 South in Tavares. In approximately 2 miles, turn left onto CR 561 (sign to Astatula). In 2.4 miles, turn right onto Frankies Road (0.75 miles south of the intersection of CR 561 and Cr 448 and just past Lake County Animal Control). Head west on Frankies Road 0.14 miles (750’) to the gate located on the north side of road.

From the south (US-27, CR-455, CR-48) - Turn north toward Tavares on CR 561. Approximately 3.2 miles north of CR 48 in Astatula, turn left onto Frankies Road (just before Lake County Animal Control.) Head west on Frankies Road 0.14 miles (750’) to the gate located on the north side.

Note: The map at left shows the 'pin' further down Frankies Road... This is the 'legal' address used for any 911 contacts. The gate is the first entrance on right past the Animal Shelter.
